Advocacy
Tires Recycling Advocacy
At the 2024 Recycling Materials Association (ReMA) Annual Convention in Las Vegas, I advocated for increased investment in tire recycling and the use of Rubberized Asphalt Concrete (RAC) as a sustainable solution to tire waste and road degradation. I used this national platform to raise awareness about the environmental impact of scrap tires and the importance of turning waste into durable infrastructure.
During the Tire and Rubber Division meeting, I shared my perspective on the urgent need for policies that support RAC in public works projects, especially at the state and local levels. I emphasized how recycled materials like RAC can reduce landfill waste, cut costs, and improve road safety.
I also spoke on the panel “Partnering in Building a Strong Foundation of Future Leaders,” where I highlighted my youth-led advocacy efforts and called on industry professionals to engage more students in environmental innovation. Through speeches, interviews, and one-on-one conversations, I urged leaders to see young people not just as future stakeholders, but as active partners in solving today’s sustainability challenges.
As a token of appreciation, ReMA made a generous donation to the World Central Kitchen (WCK) in my honor. This gesture was meaningful because WCK's mission aligns with my values of sustainability and community support.

Capitol Hill Advocacy
In both 2023 and 2024, I traveled to Capitol Hill to advocate for sustainable practices and promote youth-led environmental solutions. These experiences provided an invaluable opportunity to engage directly with lawmakers and highlighted the importance of civic action in shaping a greener future. In 2023, I met with representatives from Congressman Connolly’s office and Senators Kaine and Warner to promote the use of Rubberized Asphalt Concrete (RAC). We emphasized RAC’s environmental benefits, including reduced tire waste and improved road durability, as well as its cost-effectiveness. This trip reinforced how even student advocates can influence federal policy and inspired my continued commitment to environmental advocacy.
In 2024, I returned as an alumna to mentor 5th and 6th grade students from Willow Springs Elementary School in advocating for the responsible recycling of electric vehicle (EV) batteries. We collaborated to develop speaking points and build their confidence ahead of meetings with Senator Duckworth’s and Senator Mullin’s offices. Together, we emphasized the environmental impact of EV battery production and disposal and the need for comprehensive legislation.
Both trips were made possible thanks to the support of the Recycling Materials Association (ReMA), whose funding allowed us to bring our message directly to the heart of government. These experiences strengthened our resolve to champion innovative, youth-driven solutions and marked pivotal moments in our shared commitment to a cleaner, greener future.

Advocacy for Armenia
Throughout the War in Artsakh and the ongoing humanitarian crisis, I have worked to raise awareness, defend human rights, and support Armenian communities affected by conflict. My advocacy has taken many forms, from research and writing to public demonstrations and community-driven fundraising.
I began by writing a paper on the conflict to better understand its historical and political roots, using it as a tool to educate others and challenge misinformation. Each year, I participated in protests calling for global recognition and justice, standing in solidarity with the Armenian community and using my voice to demand action.
In parallel, I helped organize and contribute to fundraisers that provided direct aid to families in Artsakh. These efforts included musical recitals at St. Mary Armenian Church and the Museum of the Bible, where I performed to raise funds and awareness. I also created and sold handmade jewelry, donating 100% of the proceeds to those impacted by the war.
This work has deepened my connection to my heritage and strengthened my belief in the power of youth-led advocacy. By combining education, action, and art, I continue to stand up for Armenia and the values of justice, truth, and resilience.

Advocating Against Plastic Pollution
At the 2022 Recycling Materials Association (ReMA) Annual Convention, I used my platform to advocate for urgent action against plastic pollution. Representing youth voices in environmental stewardship, I delivered speeches and interviews that highlighted the long-term dangers of single-use plastics and microplastic contamination in ecosystems and human health.
Beyond sharing my message on stage, I engaged directly with policymakers, industry leaders, and sustainability experts—discussing the need for stronger regulations, innovative alternatives, and greater youth involvement in shaping environmental solutions. These conversations helped bridge the gap between student advocacy and real-world impact, and emphasized that young people can play a serious role in driving change.
Attending the convention expanded my understanding of recycling systems and strengthened my belief in the power of advocacy, education, and collaboration in solving the plastic crisis.

Zoom Meeting with Senator Warner's Staff
After the 2022 ReMA convention, I took the lead in organizing a Zoom meeting with Adam Kubsike from Senator Warner's office to advocate for Rubberized Asphalt Concrete (RAC). I helped to plann and coordinate the session, ensuring a clear agenda and smooth execution.
I organized our team’s efforts, delegating tasks for content creation and visual aids, and managed the technical aspects of the meeting. During the session, I facilitated the discussion, ensuring each team member presented their part effectively and addressing any questions or concerns from Mr. Kubsike.
When we realized he was initially unfamiliar with RAC, I quickly adapted our presentation on the spot, focusing on making the benefits and importance of RAC clear. My leadership ensured the meeting was productive, which motivated us to plan a follow-up visit to Capitol Hill in 2023 to further advocate for sustainable road construction. This experience highlighted my ability to lead and coordinate efforts to drive impactful advocacy.
